Site Clearance for a New Magistrate's Office, Jericho, North West

Site clearance, rezoning and subdivision for a new magistrate's office in Jericho, Madibeng Local Municipality, where the court currently operates from SAPS premises.

2019 · Department of Public Works · Site clearance and statutory town planning · 8 months duration

Key contributors: Larissa Snyman

The Department of Public Works appointed Cadre Plan to undertake site clearance for a new magistrate's office in Jericho, a small town in the north-east of the North West Province. The state-owned Portion 1 of the farm Palmietfontein 227 JQ, adjacent to the existing police station, was proposed, with a subdivision of roughly 4 600 m² recommended to allow future expansion.

Cadre Plan delivered the work in three phases: inception and constraints analysis; a site audit including a topographical survey and review of specialist studies; and the statutory processes, covering rezoning and subdivision applications, objections, hearings and the final site clearance reports. The clearance enables the court to move off SAPS premises into a purpose-built facility.

Key figures: ±4 600 m² subdivision recommended | 3-phase methodology | Agricultural zoning addressed through rezoning
