Land Use Audit — Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality

A full audit of municipally-owned land, producing an electronic database of 3 081 properties and a refined land use classification system.

2022 · Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality · Land use audits · 4 months duration

Key contributors: Phillip Moyo

Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality tasked Cadre Connect with a land use audit to determine all municipally-owned properties and support more credible, SPLUMA-compliant land use schemes.

The audit followed a four-step process: improving the electronic Surveyor-General cadastre; enhancing valuation roll data with deeds data; linking the valuation roll to the cadastre; and compiling land use and registration details. Cadre adopted a use-to-land-parcel capture system, with data-capturers trained in specific land-use categories to improve data quality.

The municipality received an electronic database of 3 081 municipally-owned properties, a refined classification system of 17 primary, 57 secondary and 274 tertiary land use categories, individual property reports highlighting significant holdings, and predominant land-use profiles for Swartruggens, Koster and Derby.

Key figures: 3 081 municipal properties | 274 tertiary classifications | 4-month delivery
